Since the 1960s, Fantasy Football has been a growing craze amongst the young and old NFL fans everywhere. Fans have been playing for ages, whether it is just for sport or for compensation.
“I started playing with some of my wife’s coworkers back in the 80s before the internet,” Damon Dennis, local chiropractor, said.
Imagine trying to keep track of all those passing yards, rushing yard, touchdowns and injuries without the accurate record keeping ability of the internet.
“It was a lot of work for the commissioner,” Dennis said.
Technology has defiantly changed the game. The Internet has made Fantasy Football more accessible for the younger generations who have started playing in recent years, but what’s in it for those fantasy franchise owners?
“Money,” Dain Glenn, senior, said.
Is it just about the money though? Or is there something more to spending hours drafting players, weekends consumed with NFL football and constantly checking your Fantasy account to making sure your fantasy players are up to par for Sunday night?
“Its great entertainment,” William Garza, junior, said. “The competition is fun among friends and it gives you something to do on Sundays. It really makes the NFL interesting.”
Football is a sport that everyone can enjoy, and Fantasy Football has allowed many to enjoy football in a completely different light.
